Meet Neon Hitch. The British singer/songwriter that isn’t your typical recording artist – her name alone suggests the trajectory of her destiny. The songstress crafts edgy dance-pop with an arty flair that hints at her bohemian upbringing; she embodies the true meaning of freedom.
Her desire to create both naturally and organically is something she manifests sonically and effortlessly. Neon is a very distinctive artist; from the way she creates music to her personal style; she maintains a very unique image that allows her to stand out in a fast paced, interchangeable industry. The singer has always shown her evolution as an artist through each process; her transparency is something her fans, ‘Neon Tribe’ have always gravitated towards and admired.
Taking it way back to the start, her house burned down the day she was born in Kingston Upon Thames, which shaped her future of travelling. Raised in the circus, Neon embarked upon a multitude of adventures; journeying through Europe with her family, she acquired skills such as fire swinging and the trapeze which she would perform from festival to festival. Neon always had a vision of her name in lights, which she mentioned in a BBC documentary that she starred in as a child, which initially ignited the fire inside of her to become a performer.
Leaving home at 15, Neon lived between India and London. At this time, she was just beginning to find a passion for music, and after creating just one demo, she was signed to 679 Records in London. This acted as a catalyst for her career – here she gained the knowledge and experience which would be intrinsic to her journey. She began working and touring with a catalogue of artists such as: The streets, Mike Skinner, Professor Green and Example – she even opened for 50 Cent on tour too. Little did she know, her next adventure would begin in New York, working with Benny Blanco – which would later see her sign to world renowned Record label, Warner Brothers.
Her unwavering commitment and passion for music is evident through her accomplishments. The songstress has worked with and penned for a series of global artists. Her star-studded catalogue includes artists such as: Ryan Tedder, Bruno Mars, Busta Rhymes, B.o.B, Jason Derulo, Cathy Dennis, Ceelo, and Darkchild – who has worked with Beyoncé. Neon also worked with Sia on her first single, “Get Over U” as well as Gym Class Heroes on their hit single, “Ass Back Home.”
Significant performances include: Jimmy Fallon (twice), the Jingle Ball, Madison Square Garden, The Staples Center, Dick Clark’s NYE ball, SXSW (three times), Good Morning America, she headlined World Pride in Toronto, performed on “The Voice” and many more.
Whilst signed to Warner Bros, Neon became frustrated by not having the freedom to put out an album, she decided to part ways and in true Neon-style, she didn’t take the easy route. She refused to search for another record label and instead, she broke new ground. In 2014, she established the world’s first ever fan label: ‘WeRNeon’. In doing so, Neon was able to release her debut album ‘Anarchy’ (July 22nd 2016).
Since its creation, Neon has remained independent and has written and released an array of music including: EPs, singles and two albums – ‘Reincarnation’ is the newest album from the singer (released 30.1.19). Notable singles include ‘Devil’ with Busta Rhymes and B.O.B, ‘Don’t Talk About It’ and ‘Poppy Seeds’, which featured on Trap Nation.
In August 2017 Neon made her reality tv debut as she appeared on hit US show ‘Million Dollar Matchmaker’ to find love and wrote her single ‘Please’ live. Neon makes it apparent that her first love has always been music.
Her music has also been used on the reality show Big Brother in the UK and Germany, on ‘Teen Wolf’ and also ‘The Internship’.
Neon has collaborated with several companies so far, ranging from Microsoft – creating the first artist IP address at SXSW, to Grey Goose – she was chosen for the Cherry Noir edition commercial – she always keeps her creative spectrum broad and enjoys variation in her work.
Another proud collaboration for Neon is her partnership with make-up brand Cargo Cosmetics. Neon featured as the new face of their Fall/Holiday collection, with her cosmetic line available in Kohl’s stores across America and worldwide online. As well as the Emerald City collection, Neon also has plans to work with the brand on her own ‘Neon Capsule’ line in the future.
Neon’s latest notation of vibrancy is projected through her latest single, Colors, release June 19th date. The single was anchored around the Black Lives Matter movement and also aligned with Pride month. Neon actively supports equal rights, therefore the track functions as the perfect ode to the turmoil and unrest in the world currently.
Since the pandemic began, Neon has been residing in the UK, working on a plethora of exciting new projects – particularly her autobiography that will provide insight to her ever-eventful life.
Neon welcomed her first baby girl into the world in early 2021, who she named Freedom!
There really is no stopping this woman, though many have tried…she rises like a true Phoenix.
